Snippets !

~ She was an every girl who dressed up each morning hoping that he will come along someday and find her eventually.
He was walking on a road unsure of any reason and sure of a reason, searching for happiness in wrong places.

~ She was a gleam of morning sunlight that makes its way through the creases of the curtain and fills the room with its soft yellow hue.
He was an audacious wind that blows off anything that comes in its way but confides in the branches of the old banyan tree across the street.

~ She was the mellow country music that gets stuck in your head and clings onto your thoughts for the entire day.
He was the lead vocalist in the heavy metal band that performs in the city café every thursday.

~ She was a cup of tea that starts your day and fills your brain with its pleasant aroma.
He was a shot of tequila, strong; one that gives you high and lands you in a world of tranquility.

~ She was an admirer of words, of paragraphs jeweled in royal blue ink on the glazed yellow pages of her diary.
He kept dainty bits of his dreams preserved, hidden from the world, in a hard bound journal.

~ She was the warmth he sought solace in.
He was the book she was longing to read.

~ She was the song he created by plucking the right strings of her heart in his parallel world.
He was the landscape she painted on a cool summer morning, sipping her favorite flavored milk.

~ She asked "What have I done good enough, that I found you?"
He kissed her on her forehead and answered "You kept looking."

Bow down to the music albums of Lootera and Raanjhana. They have it all !

The year 2013 was a year of many multi-starrer, heavily budgeted movies; a year of hundred crore collections and some really great “out-of–the-box” creations. Also there were many unsuccessful attempts at sequels, comedies and action. But one thing that will make this year a memorable one was some beautifully written and composed music albums.
Amidst them were two very special albums. They were miraculous combination of flawless music, enchanting vocals, use of multi-instruments and above all spell-binding lyrics.
  • My first pick is the soul-soothing album by Amit Trivedi- Lootera wherein each song had its own aura. Each one dipped in jar of delightful music and wrapped with blissful lyrics. The album is a relaxed compilation of songs which are high on imagination and have a story to tell. Amitabh Bhattacharya had done a great job penning down the songs and it can be seen in each of the song.
The album has everything right from simplicity of words in the beautifully sung "Sawaar Loon"

to depth of insightfulness in "Zinda hu yaar kaafi hai" .

There is indeed a great sagacity of creation which can be seen in the every line of “Ankahee”

                                                                 " बारिशें नाराज़गी भी जता जाती है कभी कभी अम्बर की"

and equally vivacious and playful are the words of “Manmarziyaan"

 "ज़िद की मारी ,भोली भाली मनमर्ज़ियाँ "|

There are tracks that can blow your mind when it comes to perfectness of lyrics. “Shikayatein”is one such compilation. Every time I listen to it I am totally taken aback by the intelligence of writer and I can never praise it enough. However long it may make the post, I cannot refrain myself from posting the wonderful lyrics here.
  ~~
  • And the second wonderful magic was the creation of A R Rehman sir's Raanjhana. This album glorified love in its own way. Shot in the holy city of Benaras, the music has its own touch of regional charm and the obvious magic of “Rehmanian” effect; perfect to put on loop songs. Like almost every Rehman album there were some beautiful romantic tracks like ‘nazar laaye na’ and ’tum tak’ along with the expected sufiana andaaz in ‘piya milenge’ and ‘benarasiyaa’ and high energy track ‘raanjhana hua main tera’. It is being said that Rahman's voice has never sounded more lovable than what it is in ‘aise na dekho’.
Coming to my favorite part, the lyrics of every track weaves a melodious story in itself. It is simple , sober yet heart melting. The wordings take you to a romantic tour nevertheless the tracks do not become a love cliche. It's a delight to listen to something like:

·         ~~  मैंने हारा मैं तेरा सारा मैं
   मीठा मीठा तू खारा खारा मैं
       तेरा सारा मैं.. सारा मैं ~~
or
  or

Very deserving and critically acclaimed, both these albums have a freshness of their own. Like I said. they have it all !

My 'LyricsFavouriteSongs"- Part 2 !!

Hello everyone
I am back with yet another list of my lyrics favorite songs. Actually this is an endless list and somehow ranking these songs is something that I can never successfully do. There are so many songs worth mentioning that I would get tired but will not be able to end. I bring to you this set of another awesome lyrics !!

  • Tujhse naraaz nahi zindagi- Maasoom
This track is a number that has been one of the most wonderful expression of pain and struggle in human life. An amazing saga by R D Burman sir and Gulzaar sir ! This is one of those songs that you can imagine playing in the background of your life almost everyday.

  • Madno - Lamhaa
I guess I shouldn't have mentioned this song because I cannot end appreciating it. Each and every line carries within it a wave of emotions and you are left in awe as to how did the lyricist manage to write such a beautiful thing. So many incredible writs tied up in one song brilliantly penned by Sayeed Qadri.

What come next is something I'll never be able to praise enough.

This is just too beautiful, so well scripted, with judicious use of the "anti words" and a soothing music. Though the song has been placed in a "sad" genre but for me its a source of happiness due to the unbelievably awesome lyrics .
  • Tarkeebein- Band baaja baraat
Another well crafted song, the metaphors used in this song are so refreshing and different. Its a total our generation kind of song. Take for example

OR the best one

It carries bundles of optimism in it. Neither any difficult words, nor a deep meaning yet gives you a fabulous message, topped up by witty comparisons .Trust me this song is a secret to a tension free life. :P

  • Phir se ud chala - Rockstar
My list cannot end without the mention of two magicians " A R Rehmaan" sir and "Mohit chauhan". This is a creation where both of them have waved their magic wands and let this wonderful creation come alive, Irshaad kaamil's lyrics too are in sync. A musical treat indeed.

The beauty of song lies in the way it brings to you the reality of human life.

In our busy lives where we are so focused on achieving the goals of life that we forget to stop and take a look at ourselves. And someday we realize that while we were busy climbing the stairs of success we left the real us somewhere below and then it would be hard to go down. So I'd want all of you to take some downtime for yourself everyday, this is your one life, enjoy it !

  • Rehna tu- Delhi 6
Wound around the hook created by the very first line "रहना तू है जैसा तू थोडा सा दर्द तू थोडा सुकून ", the whole songs make you feel the essence of a world of selfless love where pain and gain does not exist. It is the mere presence of the beloved ones that matters. Sir A R Rehmaan's highly imaginative lines along with his own scintillating voice makes this song a must mention here. His sheer audacity with the words is commendable.

I end up today's list here. Enjoy these songs and do comment below about how you liked them. Also I'd love to know more of your favorite songs. Have a great day !!

Hindi ki baat hi kuch aur hai !

For me 'lyrics' has always been the soul of any song. A song with bad lyrics is a waste however good the music may be. This love towards words and expression through them was fertilized when I met a great writer cum poet cum director Saurabh Pandey sir in my college. Listening and understanding to all that he wrote was something that gave me a potency to try and write in Hindi.I believe in what a famous Boyzone song says "Words and words are all I have to take your heart away".
What I am posting today is however a small poetic fray that happened while we were just texting one day. Obviously I was a fool to even try to match up to his level but then I just tried. This is what was the outcome :

Saurabh sir-
Is hansi ko khushi ki inaayat na samjho
muskuraate hain hum gam chupane ke liye
Mere jeene ka koi maqsad nahi hai
bas zinda hain khud ko bhulaane ke liye

Me-
Aane do ujaale ko har suraakh se bheetar
aisa na ho andhere me rehne ek adat ban jaaye
Bina maskad ki zindagi jise kehte ho tum
kya pta kisi ki zindagi ka maqsad ban jaaye

Saurabh sir-
kyunki ujaalo me taare gumnaam hote hain
maqsad kya dega koi jine ke khaatir
har rishte zamane me ek din badnaam hote hain

Me-
Badnaam hone ka darr kahan raha hai hume
Bheed me ek chehra dhundh lene ki chahat bevajah hoti hai

Saurabh sir-
Bewajah bheed me dhundhte ho chehra
shayad khud ki nigaho pe aitbaar nahi hai
aakhir kyun talash hai subah ki tumhe
jabki mehtaab sa aaftab me khumaar nahi hai

Me-
Agar aaina dekh ke gumaan karne ko jeena kehte
toh kyun kisi ki aankhon me padhne pe aitbaar hota
agar itni hi khoobsurat aur poori har raat hoti

Well this went nowhere and we just ended.

#PS : this post is dedicated to saurabh sir !! :)
